Ancient revival with
Julie Rauschenberger
Like clothing and art, great
jewelry styles are revived with contemporary perspectives, making them
relevant to their new era while retaining specific elements of their
history.
Seattle goldsmith Julie
Rauschenberger uses traditional 22k gold, unusual gem combinations, and
modern stone settings to create her one-of-a-kind interpretations of
historical designs.

She specializes in
granulation, an art of extreme precision that involves the fusing of
tiny gold beads to the surfaces of jewelry in elaborate raised designs.
This technique dates back to 3rd millennium Mesopotamia and was
perfected by the Etruscans between 800–650 B.C.E.
Julie’s extraordinary
twenty-first century take on ancient style, such as the
Etruscan-inspired, hand-cut rutilated quartz barrel and diamond ring
shown, can be seen at BNOX Gold & Iron in Pepin, Wisconsin or at
www.bnoxgold.com.
